Sarah Beth Withers is the founder of Inner Banks Legal Services, a nonprofit law firm she established to bridge the justice gap in Eastern North Carolina. A Board Certified Specialist in Consumer Bankruptcy Law, her practice includes representing individuals in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases, guardianships for incompetent adults including asset management as a court appointed Guardian of the Estate, estate planning, and advocacy for domestic violence survivors.
She began her career as a judicial extern to the late Honorable Randy D. Doub, Chief Judge for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, an experience that deepened her commitment to serving the community. Her background includes work as a chapter 13 trustee staff attorney, consumer advocate, and creditor representative, providing a comprehensive perspective on bankruptcy and consumer law. She is a cofounder of the NC Consumer Bankruptcy Rights Coalition and has contributed to national bankruptcy education through NACBA, NACTT, and the Eastern Bankruptcy Institute. Recognized by the American Bankruptcy Institute’s “40 Under 40,” she remains dedicated to advancing consumer rights and promoting equal access to justice.
